Newborn screening, also known as the heel prick test, is a process by which diseases in newborns are detected early, allowing for early diagnosis and appropiate treatment to improve the quality of life of affected babies. In Spain, newborn screening is carried out widely in all autonomous communities, although there are differences in the diseases included in the screening and the techniques used. 

In this document, we present a detailed analysyis of the situation of newborn screening in Spain. With this document, we aim to provide clear and detailed information on the current situation of newborn screening in Spain, with the aim of promoting knowledge and awareness of this important healthcare tool
