Following its creation, the founders of the National Platform for Neonatal Screening Support and Equity in the Healthcare System gathered this Thursday to establish the strategic lines, objectives, and actions they will jointly promote from this organization. Additionally, the Board of Directors has been appointed, consisting of the following individuals: Jesús Ignacio Meco (Indepf) as President; Raquel Yahyaoui (scientific coordinator of the platform) as Vice President; Pedro Lendínez (Más Visibles) as Secretary; and Lidia Maljarenko (ASPYO) as Treasurer.

This entity has a national scope, and support from other associations, scientific societies, personalities, political representatives, research institutes, and individuals who are in favor of the cause will be gradually added.

This meeting, which marks an important milestone in the pursuit of equitable neonatal screening for all newborns, has defined several key objetives, such as the need for access to early detection test throughout the national territory, the creation of awareness campaigns this cause, and close collaboration with healthcare professionals and other relevent organizations.

Since its establishment, the platform’s main purpose is to raise awareness of the neonatal screening situation in Spain and ensure a system that can guarantee equitable access to diagnosis, regardless of the place of birth. Thus, the platform members believe that access to expanded screening is a right for all newborns nationwide.

Therefore, the National Plaftorm for Neonatal Screening Support and Equity in the Healthcare System is committed to working diligently to achieve its shared objectives and will continue to collaborate closely to achieve a more inclusive and equitable healthcare system.
